Gospel

Luke 11:29-32

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation  and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.”

Sermon

My brothers and sisters in Christ, today's Gospel reading presents Jesus' warning to an evil generation seeking signs. He emphasizes the importance of responding to God's call.

The Evil Generation:

- Seeks signs, but refuses to repent

- Demands proof, but ignores God's presence

The Sign of Jonah:

- Jonah's preaching brought Nineveh to repentance

- Jesus is the greater sign, calling to repentance

Condemnation at Judgment:

- The Queen of Sheba and Ninevites will condemn

- They recognized God's wisdom and repented

Implications for Us:

- Recognize God's presence and wisdom

- Respond to Jesus' call to repentance

- Do not seek signs, but seek the Lord

Conclusion:

May we heed Jesus' warning, repenting and following Him.

Reflection Questions:

1. What signs do you seek in life?

2. How do you respond to God's call?

3. What hinders your repentance?
